Cul de Sac fun

We love our neighborhood. We were the first house on our street 3 years ago and about 6 months ago the last house was completed. There are 13 houses and I love that our court is that small. It's made it very easy to get to know everyone. There's only 5 kids (2 of which are mine)but we are often all seen out in the evenings letting the kids roam and play. There are 8 dogs...and they're wilder than the children.

Last Friday we had a big get together. We rolled out 3 grills and had all the yummies to go with them. It was so easy since we all live close. I'm thankful that God's placed us in this town and on this street. It's perfect for us.

When Nate gets off work tonight we're headed to Grapevine. We'll stay in a hotel with his parents and sister, Joy. I'll drive to Midwest City with my mom for my cousins wedding on Saturday. Nate and the kids will stay and play in Grapevine. Then Sunday and Monday we'll shop, eat, visit my family, and swim at the hotel pool. Much fun is expected. I love staying in a hotel because it takes all the pressure off me to clean and cook. I'm really looking forward to it. On Tuesday Nate and I will celebrate 8 years of marriage. Hopefully we can snag a hot date this weekend.

Thoughts on Motherhood

When Nate and I got pregnant for the first time I had no idea the journey that motherhood would take me on. I had no idea how it would change my view of God, of the world, and of other moms, particularly my own mom. Being a mommy has made me more sensitive, more aware, more grateful, more thoughtful, more reliant upon God, more prayerful, more frustrated and more emotional. Some of my biggest highs and lows in life have come because I am a mommy.

There was a time in my life after losing my first two babies that I would have said that I would never feel like the most blessed or luckiest person alive. I just didn't think after experiencing such loss that I'd ever be truly thankful to be me. Well, I was wrong. After 5 short years, I'm not in that place anymore. I truly love my life, my family and being me. I feel that I am blessed beyond imaginable, and yes, I may just be the luckiest mommy around! My sorrow has turned to joy. My weeping has turned to laughter. I am blessed.

Girl!!!!!!! Yeah, I think I wrote that right...plan for pink!!! I keep second guessing it b/c it doesn't seem real and it's different with a girl b/c there's just nothing there. We're so excited. Thanks for your continued prayers. My ultrasound with my doctor is on May 29th. Happy Mother's Day to me.

Slip and Slide

I'm not sure if we ever had a slip and slide as a kid---but I can remember always thinking they looked really cool. We were more of the old fashioned run in the sprinkler type of family. Anyway, Shepherd got a slip and slide for his birthday. It's pretty funny to watch the kids on it. Especially since the water coming out is very very cold. They had fun nonetheless.

While They're Sleeping

The reason my blog is titled "While They're Sleeping" is because basically the only time I have to blog is---yup, while they're sleeping. In fact there are days that I feel like if I want to do anything productive at all then I have to wait til they're sleeping. This is my life right now and I wouldn't have it any other way. So when I'm blogging know that my kids look something like this:

So far they've both slept together on the bottom bunk twice. One of those nights they came in our room around 1am or so. Most nights Shepherd sleeps in his room and Owen sleeps in the bunk. He's done great transitioning to a big boy bed. The crib is up in the attic and Owen is a big boy! He did get out of bed once before having slept his allotted time and when we saw him and told him no he immediately started crying. A lot different then his brother's response to correction. It's weird to think we have 2 big boys. Now if we could just get them both potty trained!!!!
