Busy Busy

Since my last update I've probably been to 4 baby showers and 4 kid birthday parties and have 3 more this week. Wow!! I thought once we were through with wedding showers it'd slow down a bit. Not so.

I had a wonderful visit from my mom's sister Dana. She came for a 2 day visit all the way from Wichita, KS. She brought some snow with her and we were very grateful. The boys had a lot of fun, until it was time to come in a thaw out.

Running...seems it's what we do these days. We had to hire a babysitter for this afternoon so we can get our 11 miles in without pushing the boys. It's hard work and I'll be glad for the race to be over with so we can have our evenings back.

Brag time

I seriously need to brag on my husband. I could and should do this more often. He's deserving. Here's some things that come to mind when I think about Nate.

  • He never complains. He's been sick for the last 2 weeks and I've barely heard a peep of complaint from him. Not only does he not complain, but he gives gives gives!! When he walks in the door he kisses me, plays with the boys, and grabs Marley to hold and coooo. He seems to have boundless energy.

  • Along with this energy---he's a hard worker. He works hard all day, in a somewhat stressful environment and when he comes home it'd be easy to just lay on the couch. Nope, not my man. He loads the dishwasher (without being asked), he takes out the trash, he gives kids baths, he plants bushes, he helps change sheets, he lets me go on girls nights (yes...plural...like 3 this month...and counting), he picks up toys, he helps make dinner....and on and on.

  • He's not just book savvy, he's life savvy. I've always known that Nate was book smart (his brain knowledge still intimidates me), but this guy has got some stellar life skillz as well. He's wise with decision making and wise with our money. He knows how to sell houses, fix cars, do yard work, negotiate for better deals, make home repairs, etc. How'd I get so lucky?

  • He's the bomb dad. Although our kids all need their momma right now, they love playing with daddy. He's the fun one. They love listening to his stories at night. They get excited to go places with him. He's not only fun, but he'll cuddle with them too.

  • He's all mine!!! Nate is committed. He loves me and he lets me know it in words and actions. He treats me best. He cares, listens, provides, makes me feel safe, leads, encourages, speaks wisely.

Nate, I love you so much. I don't deserve such an awesome man. Glad I snagged you 15 years ago. Happy Valentines Day!!

The Elephant in the room

We're moving.

There I said it.

We're not moving to Little Rock.

For the last 6 years I always thought we'd end up back in Little Rock.

We're not.

I saw it coming (maybe even before Nate did) and God prepared my heart. At times I'm still so sad. I kept thinking in my mind how I couldn't wait to hang out with HEB, or Traci, or Jess. And to be close to Nate's family...all of his family. Now we're the ones left out. The familiar, the comfortable, the easy...

But no, not us. When have we chosen the easy, comfortable (or maybe even a bit boring)??? So...where are moving you ask? To "the Metroplex"...the "Big D" or "DFW". Our new home will be Grapevine, TX (https://www.grapevinetexasusa.com/). This happens to be one of the cutest towns I know. It's small with a great bit of charm, but close to the big city. Nate will be working at Baylor Grapevine as a REAL doctor!!! Weirdo!! This will strech me, challenge me, and grow me. I'm not ready to know noone and start over again...didn't I just do that???

With the upcoming move (May or June 2010) things are different. Our house is clean and ready to show. Friendships seem to reveal heart protecting themselves. Neighbors chat about who might buy our house. And I try to not think about it at all. I'm sad. I love this place and more importantly these people. Gonna miss it.

So...in closing...if you know of someone who wants to live on the best street in our town...send them to www.ellingtoncourt.blogspot.com

We are trying to sell by owner, but will list with a realtor later this month.

ahhh...glad to get that all out.
