Our FUN Life

The BIG Cut

Remember that cute little bob cut that I gave Marley a few months back?

Well, her brothers decided to improve on it.  Really.  Yes.  The night before I had cut Nate's hair and left the hair cutting kit out.  Never. again.  I heard my cute kids all playing sweetly upstairs.  I hollered "are y'all okay?" "YES." they sweetly replied.  Then as I sat folding laundry on my couch I saw it for the first time.  They brought her down dressed in a princess dress and showed her off to me.  At first I couldn't quite put my finger on what was so wrong.  She looked different, VERY different.  Then the tears started...my tears.  Her cute style had been slaughtered.  Immediately God reminded me that she was safe and that one day this might actually be funny.  So I grabbed my video camera on my phone and started recording while tears ran down my face.  The boys seemed proud--and passed blame.  I think Owen cut it.  Shepherd sprayed it with detangler.  Marley was unsure of exactly what was going on.  She said she didn't like it.  I had my neighbor who's a hairdresser to come over and look at what we could do to fix it.  Lori felt like if we cut it anymore it'd be bad and make it more obvious.  After 1 week it's looking much better.   And I'm done crying...

Where have we been?

We finished up school.  We now have a kindergartener who will get a locker!  He's really excited about that.
We love Mrs. Kercheval and hope to have more years with her as Owen and Marley go through pre-k.

The day school ended we packed up the car and headed off to Springfield MO to visit our good friends from medical school, the Smiths!!  We traveled for the first time with Marley in panties and she was a rock star!  I'm so proud of that girl.  The 8 hours in the car went by fast and we were so excited to be there.  We went to the Safari drive thru park, swimming, Bass Pro, late night talks, smores, documentaries, and just had a blast hanging out with our families.

We also headed over to Bolivar, MO where my grandparents live.  We enjoyed going to church with them and then lunch.  Owen thought their house was so amazing because it had a basement.  He asked me "Mom, will you bring the camera downstairs and take my picture in the basement?"  So cute!
While in Bolivar I got to catch up with my SBU college roommate and good friend, Jackie.  You can't tell here, but she was 30 weeks pregnant with twin girls.  She ended up delivering 3 days later.

Nate's uncle was gracious enough to let us use his lake house for a few days.  This was so fun and relaxing for our family.  Each kid tubed behind the boat, swam off the dock, threw rocks for hours and had a blast.  Each night we all slept in the same room--bunk style.  Such great family memories.

On our way home we swung by Benton to see the Livers crew.  Grandmother came over and gave me some great gardening tips.  She is such a wealth of information!  It was nice to catch up with her.

Overall, we had a wonderful time.  Now we're back home and in the full swing of summer life.
